Basic supplies needed to start scrapbooking

Getting started with scrapbooking can be alittle overwhelming when you enter the scrapbooking aisles in a store. There's so much stuff to choose from. Once you get the hang of things, trust me your gonna want everything that has to do with scrapbooking. There are so many stamps, pens, ink pads, embossing powders and embellishments. I can go on and on. But, the basic items you need to get started to create beautiful pages are as follows:

1. An album (Choose an album that would be the size you believe you can complete. Starting small would be a great start.) Examples of albums: Small chipboard albums, paper bag albums. (Check out my store for these type of albums at http://www.scraponthis.com)

2. Pair of sharp scissors (Choose a pair of scissors with a fine tip and comfortable to use.)

3. Adhesives (There are so many different adhesives to choose from. It will depend on what you like to use and in time you will find your favorite. I just found that when someone suggested an adhesive to me I did not like it. So with time you will find the one that you like best. Whatever you choose just make sure it is acid-free.)

4. Cardstock and pattered papers (When first starting a new project choose a theme, color or design. Then choose the card stock and pattern papers to match. Have fun with this part of the project.)

5. Journal pens (The journal pens are for telling your story about the page you created. You can use different colors and choose to journal any where on your page.)

6. Ruler (Can be use to measure and cut your papers or just invest in a 12 inch paper trimmer. It's well worth the money.)

7. X-acto knife (To be use for trimming papers, card stock or any hard to reach places.)

8. Self healing mat(So you don't cut up your table.)

Little by little you can add to your supplies and before you know it you will have lots of items to be creative. Soon you will be making beautiful pages.

"Quote Of The Day"

"Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation."--- George Washington

"Quote Of The Day"

"For there is no friend like a sister
In calm or stormy weather;
To cheer one on the tedious way,
To fetch one if one goes astray,
To lift one if one totters down,
To strengthen whilst one stands."-- Christina Rossetti

When was the last time you looked at your photo albums?

Why not get those photo albums out of the drawers and on to your coffee tables. I found when I used film for my camera to take pictures; they just stayed in the envelope they came in. Most of us have digital cameras now. Taking pictures digitally is a great way to take pictures because we just download them onto our computers. Having them on our computers makes it much easier to go through them to find just what we're looking for. Now, going back to the pictures I had in the envelopes. I placed some pictures in albums, thinking I would enjoy them more. The pictures were out of the envelopes and into photo albums. Well, the albums also stayed in the drawers. The albums were out of sight and out of mind. Putting the pictures into photo albums did not resolve the problem; the pictures were still in a drawer.

Then, I discovered scrapbooking. I couldn't get enough, I scrapbooked and scrapbooked until my heart was content. I was so excited when my projects were done. I wanted to share them with my family and friends that I displayed them around the house for everyone to enjoy. I gave some of the albums away as gifts or my family members just had to have them.

My point is that scrapbooking our photos make looking at our memories so much more fun. It's like accessorizing when we dress ourselves. Why not accessorize with our memories by placing them in scrapbooks and telling a story. It's so much fun. The colors of the papers, the kinds of embellishments and different techniques we use to get our story told. That's what brings our memories alive. So let's get busy.....
